Yin Yoga is suitable for all levels of fitness. This form of yoga is especially suited to individuals looking to increase their range of motion and mobility, to release muscular tension and to ease joint stiffness.
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced modern style of yoga. The majority of poses are done seated or lying down. Poses are held for three to five minutes; allowing for the student to access deeper layers of connective tissue, tendons, fascia and ligaments. Unlike other active styles of Yoga – which focus on muscles, balance and flexibility – Yin Yoga aims to increasing circulation in the joints and to release tension deep in the body. Yin is a deeply meditative form of Yoga which fosters quiet introspection.
Yin Yoga is often recommended in the treatment of chronic pain conditions (such as lower back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia), and in the rehabilitation of sports and physical injuries.
